Precisely coordinated powertrain configurations, spontaneous power delivery, increased driving stability, improved steering characteristics, and numerous assistance/safety systems significantly reduce the driver’s workload and provide a more satisfying driving experience.
The new Actros boasts excellent driving dynamics by successfully combining comfort with improved road contact and excellent vehicle handling and control. Numerous drive, chassis and suspension components have been redeveloped and significantly improved. For example, the optimised response of the new high-torque in-line engines and perfectly coordinated shifting strategy for the standard-specification automatic transmission systems deliver more spontaneous, more comfortable starting characteristics compared with predecessor models. The hypoid real axle has also been enhanced and optimised. This ensures that the power generated by the engine is transferred more efficiently to the road. This also equates to optimum application orientation, low consumption and improved efficiency.
A new steering system, a wider, more rigid frame, 4-bellows air suspension, and innovative rear axle guide deliver improved self-steering characteristics and greater transverse stability. The standard-specification tried-and-tested electronic braking system and Stability Control Assist ensure enhanced safety. A range of safety and assistance systems are optionally available, including Active Brake Assist 2 and Proximity Control Assist with stop-and-go function to reduce the driver’s workload in stressful situations.
Passive safety is enhanced by optional bi-xenon headlamps, the cornering light function, LED daytime driving lamps and LED tail lights. For the person behind the wheel, this means maximum driving comfort and a safe and secure driving experience – from the starting point to your destination.
