Enhanced safety at all times – thanks to safety and assistance and systems
When it comes to safety, the new Actros is way ahead of the competition. In addition to the long-established electronic braking system with ABS, ASR, Brake Assist and hill-hold control, the standard-specification Stability Control Assist further enhances safety levels. In the event of an emergency stop, the hazard warning lights are switched on automatically. A high-performance engine brake ensures low brake wear as standard. The Actros can also be fitted with the new High Performance Brake.* A redeveloped, more powerful, low-noise retarder (up to 850 KW) delivers more comfortable braking. And the system is now cooled using engine coolant instead of oil and is lighter and more efficient. It is fully integrated in the braking system and supplies a braking torque of up to 3500 Nm.
The Active Brake Assist 2 also delivers the highest standards of safety. The system not only reacts to moving obstacles but is also capable of identifying static objects. Should this occur, the system emits a warning sound and can initiate partial braking if required. The optional Active Brake Assist 2 is also available in combination with Proximity Control Assist, which reduces the driver’s workload with its new stop-and-go function. Other stress-reducing features include the optional rain/light sensor, Lane Keeping Assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system and a sensor-controlled fifth-wheel coupling, which displays the coupling status on the instrument cluster. Bi-xenon headlamps are optionally available for the new Actros – as are the new cornering light function, LED daytime driving lamps and LED tail lights. The standard-specification "follow-me-home" lamps assist drivers even after they’ve climbed out of the cab. Safety Packs (optional) enhance safety and boost efficiency thanks to economical package pricing, attractive leasing/financing conditions and lower insurance premiums.
